Yesterday varied people around the world observed, commemorated, or celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
For many, it was a wonderful day to celebrate Christ’s triumph over crucifixion, death, and the grave. How glorious! Unfortunately, on the day after, it seems to many that the joy of the resurrection had its day and now it’s time to get back to the reality of business as usual.
Oh, no! When we read pass the initial act of the resurrection, we are reminded that Jesus remained on earth another forty days communicating, instructing, and interacting with many. Paul reported that on one occasion Jesus was seen by more than five hundred at one sighting. (1 Corinthians 15:6) Jesus did not evaporate after His resurrection. He was engaged in activity as he prepared to leave His followers.
The time between the resurrection, the ascension, and Pentecost was definitely not business as usual...it was of great jubilation, expectancy, and prayer. The magnitude of the resurrection did not lessen for His followers on the day after...and neither should it for us. The power of the resurrection is not over!!!
What would happen if for the next fifty days we remain as excited and jubilant and expectant and prayerful about Christ’s resurrection as His believer did some two thousand years ago? I believe we too would experience a Pentecost of unbelievable power; and in these days of national, international, and personal crises, don’t we need to live daily in the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ? I believe we do!
That is why I invite you to join me in keeping the power of the Resurrection alive in our daily life during the next forty-nine days, for I believe if we do so we will experience an extraordinary resurrection in our own life…one that will bear extraordinary results in a victorious walk in the Lord because the power of His resurrection…it’s not over!
Biblical Affirmation: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of [God’s] calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places… Ephesians 1:18-20
